Kerala and Tamil Nadu’s rural areas spend the most on transportation, accounting for 18.9% and 18% of total spending, respectively.

State-by-state breakdown of spending in urban India States like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana have the lowest percentage of non-food spending on clothing, bedding, and footwear.

Transport, followed by durable goods and states like Kerala, Odisha, and Rajasthan, account for the majority of non-food spending in urban India.
